Cross Country

A reflection from one of our Year 6 students

"On the 27th of May Yagoona Public School held their annual Cross Country. All the students participated brilliantly and all the teachers were impressed. First up were the Years 3-6 who had to run two whole laps around the full course. It was tough and exhilirating but the job had to be done. First to run were the 12 year olds and they ran beautifully and speedily. Whatever happened, if they came first or last was an incredible experience for them because they made the whole school proud. Next up were the 11 year olds. I was in the race and there were some fast and speedy runners running with me. In the end I was puffed out and tired but I was so proud of myself and the others for finishing the run. Next up was the 10 year olds and they were amazing. They ran swiftly and carefully and fnished extremely well.

After the long break it was the kindies turn to run. They ran quickly and it was a pleasure to see them run for the first time.  A couple of them fell down at the start line but there was no worry because they all finished strongly at the end. Next was the year 1's and 2's who also ran magnificently. They started strongly and finished strongly too.

Last but not least were the 8 year olds and 9 year olds. All of the groups were fantastic but the standout for me was the 9yr old girls. At the final sprint Cabrogal and Darug were neck and neck heading for gold but a strong surge from Cabrogal got their team a delicious win. At the end everybody was tired and puffed out. "
